Forgetfulness is quite common and also annoying as it may cause friction between people due to disappointments. Contrary to memory loss which comes at a later age, forgetfulness is very common for people in their thirties. Here are some of the reasons why people in their thirties experience a lot of forgetfulness.
High levels of stress are the main contributor of forgetfulness among people in their thirties. During this age period, the young individuals have a lot of things they need to handle and it can be very stressing for them. Individuals in their thirties need to focus on their careers, buy a house for their future families, marry or get married, get kids and also maintain the relationships with friends and this can be very stressful. At this stage of life you may find yourself forgetting things rampantly and to counteract this it is advisable that you relax more, spend some time with friends, work out and also practice meditation through yoga.
People in their thirties also suffer from forgetfulness caused by high levels of anxiety. It is impossible for your brain to function properly when you are anxious and in most case you have a hard time thinking straight. It is also hard for you to remember events from previous days as anxiety affects your short term memory centers. It is advisable to have anxiety treated as this will see you live a normal life by improving your thinking, decision making and judgement.
You can also experience forgetfulness if you don’t subject your body to enough sleep. It is recommended that you have a minimum of eight hours of sleep in a day and anything below this is dangerous to your brain. You can, however, improve your ability to remember by getting enough sleep as it rejuvenates your short term memory centers.
Medical prescriptions can also lead to forgetfulness. Paroxetine, Oxybutynin, Amitriptyline, and Cimetidine drugs are some of the prescriptions that can affect your brain and generally your ability to remember. Cold and allergy drugs which contain components of diphenhydramine, chlorpheniramine, or brompheniramine should also be avoided as they are known to cause forgetfulness. It is recommended that you avoid these drugs at all costs.
Another major culprit known to cause forgetfulness and memory loss, in the long run, is the heavy consumption of alcohol. Taking too much alcohol in one sitting within a short period of time will in the long run affect your brain cells which in turn affects your memory centers and you ought to consider cutting this habit.
